Intrepid Destiny 2 players have stumbled across a tantalizing secret in one of the many out-of-bounds areas, possibly offering a glimpse into the game’s future.

The Destiny franchise is now in its tenth year, and over that time, it has built a significant world for the game to operate in. Many are in it for the gunplay, PvE activities or mayhem against other Guardians, but an equally substantial number are there for the story it tells.

Though the Destiny 2 narrative has been through some mixed fortunes in recent years, there are still plenty of unanswered questions to which the game’s dedicated audience wants conclusions. A lot of those answers will arrive with The Final Shape in June, but that hasn’t stopped players from trying to find them in the meantime.

Now, Destiny players have discovered a secret in the Starcrossed Exotic mission that could hold clues about what’s to come.

Destiny players discover Ishtar Collective Vex symbol

During the Starcrossed Exotic mission, a post on Reddit shared how players have been able to access a chamber that contains what looks like the symbol of the Ishtar Collective made up of Vex components.

The discovery caused a lot of speculation among the game’s community, primarily because it’s an asset they haven’t seen before and appears very deliberate.

For those who aren’t aware, the Ishtar Collective was a Golden Age organization intent on scientific advancement, serving as direct rivals to Clovis Bray. They’re most noteworthy for their studies on the Vex, including mapping the Vault of Glass.

Theories on what the symbol is for are wide-ranging, with some pointing to a lore book in which the Collective sent copies of people’s minds into the Vex network. Adding to that, one said: “The last I heard, they’d all gotten together and were rushing a vex gate to get out.”

Others pointed to perceived clues elsewhere in the game, with one saying: “Pretty sure that might have something to do with tomorrow’s reset. Once you beat the final boss of the mission and go into the rewards room. At the very top, there is a vex gate that’s not turned on yet. Each week, the blocks have been forming a bridge.”

Whatever the case may be, Bungie does have a long history of laying out clues for the player base to uncover. Whether this is one of those, and how significant it may be, remains to be seen.
