Diablo 4 players will miss Vampire Powers when they’re removed in Season 3
Blizzard EntertainmentDiablo 4 Season 2 is coming to an end and Season 3 will soon be here, but some players are lamenting the loss of Vampire Powers and wondering if they’ll ever see them again.
Season 2 of Diablo 4 is largely considered an improvement over Season 1. Not only did Blizzard provide more balance and endgame content to the game, Season 2’s short vampire-themed questline gave players some new story missions to sink their teeth into. It also provided Vampire Powers, new abilities that enhanced players’ builds and allowed them to create some truly unique and deadly characters.
The overall vampire theme of Season 2 was popular and should it go away forever, never to be seen again, many players will miss the concept. Turning their characters into day-walking vampire spawn was a fun wrinkle to Diablo 4’s story and the existence of the vampire menace in Sanctuary was a nice change of pace from the usual demon-slaying antics.
Season 3 of Diablo 4 starts on January 23, 2024, and will be revealed in a live stream on January 18, 2024. The new season will likely have its own gimmicks and themes (possibly involving Zoltun Kulle) that will replace the vampire shenanigans of Season 2, but some players will miss the Vampire Powers – even though Season 3 will likely offer a similar system.
On Reddit, one poster said: “I am going to miss vampiric powers so much once the season ends… Especially the one that does 80% of your max HP as damage to everything; it was so fun to walk into a group of enemies and wipe them all out with a single basic skill.”
Others appreciated the vampire theme in general saying: “This game is so freaking awesome. I never thought I’d be having so much fun when I started playing. Didn’t care much for the precious season but this one got to my heart. I love the Vampire theme and the blood harvest.”
Another was quick to point out that the Vampire Powers would essentially be repackaged into something new for Season 3, saying: “No you won’t because you will be messing around with whatever OP mechanics the next season brings.”
Some players expressed hope that the abilities offered by Vampire Powers would return as unique items/skills, just like the Malignant Powers of Season 1 did, saying: “A handful of the most popular abilities will be converted into uniques just like the Malignant rings.”
It will be interesting to see if Diablo 4 does bring back any themes from earlier seasons later in the game’s life cycle. Season 2’s vampire story could offer a range of creative routes for Diablo 4, and eventually, Blizzard could one day choose to bring some quests, characters, and abilities to the Eternal Realm, so that all players can experience them once a season ends.
