Elden Ring players convinced Messmer isn’t the final DLC boss
FromSoftwareElden Rings players believe that the final boss for Shadow of the Erdtree won’t be Messmer, as many are speculating.
The upcoming Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, is poised to bring a whole new slew of bosses for the Tarnished to fight as they progress through the story.
Since his reveal as a major player in the expansion, Messmer is expected to be the big boss that players will take down in the finale.
However, there are a lot of Elden Ring fans who think this won’t be the case and that Messmer is somewhat of a red herring when it comes to the bosses.
Elden Ring players expect Messmer won’t be the final boss
The speculation is ongoing over on the Elden Ring subreddit, where a post was made claiming: “Messmer, the Impaler, will NOT be the main DLC boss!”
The original poster points to Lady Maria in the Old Hunters DLC for Bloodborne: a character who was all over the marketing but wasn’t the final boss.
“I’m calling it right now, behind all of this that we saw in the trailer, just like Orphan in Bloodborne, Godwyn will appear to break all of us and claim his title as the hardest boss in Elden Ring. What do you guys think?”
Many responses can see this being a possibility, as one user says, “Probably, Fromsoft does enjoy their twists. I just don’t want Miquella to end up being the villain pulling everyone’s strings.”
Some Elden Ring fans are thinking that Messmer might be an optional boss, and not even have to be faced by necessity. Instead, the final boss will be familiar:
“I agree that Messmer won’t be the final boss of the story and think that the final boss will likely be a currently known character to tie into the Lands Between.”
This new trailer for Elden Ring’s (possibly only) DLC is setting the internet ablaze with speculation, and everyone can be sure that Shadow of the Erdtree will hold quite a few secrets.
