Popular Call of Duty streamer Censor has been banned on Twitch just days after he used a homophobic slur on stream.

On October 17, 2023, Doug ‘Censor’ Martin apologized on Twitter/X after using a homophobic slur on stream.

It happened during a Modern Warfare 2 broadcast on Twitch, where he started having a war of words with a teammate. Just days later, he slipped up again with a racial slur on stream.

Just six days later, on October 23, Martin was hit with a ban on Twitch.

At the time of writing, Censor’s Twitch channel sports a generic ban message.

“This channel is temporarily unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service,” it reads.

Censor admitted he was wrong in his apology, but using slurs on stream is against Twitch TOS.

Twitch ban

According to Twitch Guidelines, using slurs in a hateful way is not allowed on Twitch.

“Use hateful slurs, either untargeted or directed towards another individual. We allow certain words or terms, which might otherwise violate our policy, to be used in an empowering way or as terms of endearment when such intent is clear. We also make exceptions for slurs in music—and singing along to music—as long as the song itself is not hateful and the slurs are not combined with other discriminating or denigrating content,” it reads.

Censor has yet to respond to the ban, but we’ll be sure to update you when he does. In the meantime, head over to our entertainment section for more news.
