Charli D’Amelio hits back at body-shaming comments about her weight

TikTok’s most followed star, 15-year-old Charli D’Amelio, has hit out at those who attempt to body-shame her online in a series of comments made on April 27.

With over 50 million followers on the video platform, D’Amelio has become a global star thanks to her dances and has even moved into YouTube videos to expand her horizons and audience.

Obviously, though, with so many eyes on her, there’s bound to be a lot who aren’t out there to support her but instead try to spread negativity and hate, and Charli decided to address them directly.

D’Amelio has had enough of the body-shaming on TikTok.

“Stop talking about my body,” she pleaded to her Twitter followers late on April 27. “It’s not your place to tell me if I’m losing weight or gaining weight.”

Although her point seemed clear enough, D’Amelio expanded and attempted to spread some positivity, instead. “Why don’t we all just be respectful and understand that we should just be kind and uplift everyone instead of trying to bring others down?”

She added that whether it’s about her, her friends or complete strangers, it’s never okay, and made a simple final plea for those doing it to just stop commenting on people’s weight or physical appearance.

As expected with the internet, the series of tweets was met with mixed responses. While many fans implored her to ignore the trolls and comments and showed support with her plea, there were also some unsavory comments too.

Some responses said that it “comes with the job,” while others simply attempted to call out the “simps” showing support or refusing to be rude about her.

D’Amelio isn’t the first TikTok star to call out body-shaming trolls, as this statement comes shortly after Hype House cohort Addison Rae made similar comments about abuse she receives over her looks.

Neither of the TikTok stars should be facing the abuse or hateful comments but they are standing up to them and handling the unfortunate situation pretty commendably.
