Concern for Gen Z spikes after 28-year-old TikToker is criticized for looking old

Gen Z’ers are being slammed after shaming a 28-year-old TikToker for looking old, highlighting the younger generation’s fear of aging.

With the rise of social media, Gen Z is an example of growing up in an online world that preys on insecurities and values youth and beauty above all.

Internet users have begun to notice Gen Z’ers are fixated on preventing the natural process of aging to ensure a continuous youthful appearance, going so far as wanting to “unalive [themselves] in their 30s”.

Now, Gen Z is being slammed for their obsession with youth after criticizing a 28-year-old woman on TikTok for looking “old”.

“Wrinkles, freckles, sunspots, imperfections, breakouts, discoloration… all very normal,” Courtney wrote. “All natural is always most beautiful in my opinion.”

However, many viewers didn’t agree and took to the comments to blast Courtney’s appearance. One person said, “Stay out of the sun jeez woman.” Another wrote, “Seems more like 38, rather than 28.”

Taking to Reddit, user ‘Ok-Economy-5820‘ pointed out the “alarming” increase in Gen Z’s fear of aging. They wrote, “I have seen multiple Gen Z’s (the vast majority women) on various platforms including Reddit and Instagram express a desire to unalive in their 30s or when they reach 40 because they cannot handle the fact that they will age, ‘become unattractive,’ ‘become hags’, etc.”

“I don’t think this is necessarily our fault, but I do see (and recognize in myself) a fear of aging, and instead of psychologically and socially trying to combat this, we simply turn to consumerism to try and ‘fix the problem,'” they continued.

“We need to do better, for ourselves and for younger generations. Skincare should be something we do to prevent cancer and to make us feel good, not another tool to try [to] fit into a patriarchal mold.”

Despite the immense criticism, Courtney has maintained her love for the natural process of aging and stated in a follow-up video; “I’m a happy girl, my face shows it… normal, human girl.”
