Dimitri Vegas drops fire Mortal Kombat track to celebrate Sub-Zero skin

Belgian DJ Dimitri Vegas has released the music done for the Mortal Kombat 11 trailer as well as a special club mix of the franchise’s iconic theme.

On August 9 Vegas tweeted, “To celebrate my upcoming ‘Sub-Zero’ playable character in #MortalKombat 11, we decided to release the music we did for the #MK11 trailer, along with a [fire emoji] clubmix!”

“We’ve been fans of the game since forever… retweet if you’re too,” he added.

On August 22, fans will be able to download a special in-game skin for Sub-Zero designed after the artist.

The decision was most likely made after Vegas remixed the Mortal Kombat theme. The club mix can now be found on Spotify and was linked to by the official Mortal Kombat Twitter account.

“Now here’s some music to fight to!!” the game account tweeted. “The new MK Theme Remix by @dimitrivegas, @likemike, @Bassjackers and @2WEIMUSIC is finally available!”

Amusingly, the original Mortal Kombat theme is already a remix of another song. According to a 2010 article by Venture Beat, the song was stolen from a Eurobeat song by 2 Unlimited called “Twilight Zone”.

The remix was done by a Belgian electronic band called The Immortals. That version added on the sound effects, voice overs and everything else that makes that makes the Mortal Kombat theme so awesome.

So basically, the club mix is a remix of a remix and Belgians have played a key role in the theme in its multiple forms.

Mortal Kombat 11 is the latest entry in the long-running franchise.
