Ibai gains insane amount of Twitch subs after record-breaking boxing stream
After his record-breaking boxing event on June 26, Twitch streamer Ibai Llanos Garatea revealed the stream’s official stats including an insane number of subscribers.
Twitch offers a number of ways for viewers to support their favorite streamers, with one of the most popular avenues being paid subscriptions. For as little as $4.99 a month – or $0 Twitch Prime members – you can become a channel subscriber.
This allows you to chat when a stream is in subscriber mode, gain access to their emotes, and get a badge by your name to show you’re a subscriber. And after the split, the streamer gets roughly 50% of the transaction.
When streamers hold massive events (i.e. tournaments or subathons) they can expect an influx of subscribers. However, no one could have predicted the insane number of subscribers Ibai would receive during his record-breaking boxing stream.
Ibai shows insane subscriber gains
On June 25, Ibai’s stream wouldn’t feature the Spanish streamer behind his normal setup. Instead, he would be casting the La Velada Del Año II boxing event with unmatched production value garnering 3.35 million concurrent viewers and smashing the previous Twitch record of 2.5 million.
A large number of these viewers would become followers launching Ibai into the position of the fifth most-followed creator on Twitch. But another accolade is just as impressive: the number of new subscribers.
During his stream on June 26, Ibai revealed the stats summary for his June 25 stream. In the new subscriber section, it showed he had gained 45,172 subscribers during the boxing event.
Not taking into account the number of Tier 2 and 3 subscribers, Ibai generated over $110k in sub revenue in a single stream.
According to Twitch Tracker, Ibai currently has the most active subs on the platform with a total of 119,468. This still only puts him in 6th place for All-Time Peak Active Subs, but it’s a noteworthy achievement nonetheless.
With the viewer record broken and Ibai breaking into the top 5 followed channels, it leaves the question of who or what will dethrone this monumental event.
