Jeffree Star addresses “rebound” rumors following Nathan Schwandt split
YouTube: Jeffree StarMakeup mogul Jeffree Star has responded to rumors that he’s dating fellow YouTube makeup guru Mitchell ‘MMMMitchell’ Halliday following his breakup with ex-boyfriend Nathan Schwandt.
Star and Schwandt dated for five years after they met via Instagram in 2014, before they split in December 2019. The YouTuber cited the pair’s mental health as a partial reason for the breakup in a video titled “We Broke Up” on January 11. “This isn’t an internet fight. This isn’t drama, this isn’t tea, this is my real life, and me and my soulmate are really going through it,” he said.
Following the separation, rumors started to swirl that the beauty star was dating fellow makeup guru MMMMitchell after a video of the two watching the sun rise together were posted onto his Instagram story in late January. On February 16, Star finally addressed the speculation.

In a video titled “Addressing The Purple ISSUES” in which MMMMitchell did his friend’s makeup using the upcoming Blood Lust palette from Jeffree Star Cosmetics, the makeup mogul quickly shut down the speculation.
“We’re having a laugh today, by the way, because Mitchell is here in town in LA, he’s staying at my house,” Star began, with his friend chiming in with a quick “in a separate room!” after which the pair burst into fits of giggles.
“Mitchell and I, we were watching the sun rise and for some reason, a few [YouTube] channels and news sites popped up like “Is this Jeffree’s rebound?” … All jokes aside, the last thing I’m trying to do is be in a relationship with anyone,” he continued. “Me and Mitchell are really close friends!”

Ending with a joke about the rumors, the 34-year-old exclaimed “So today, he is gonna create a really sickening look. No, we are not sleeping together, but, uh, I think we should start!” which caused MMMitchell to burst into laughter.
“I think that 2019 was full of a lot of treachery, treachery and just really crazy things, so I think that 2020 just really needs to go back to the focus of makeup and beauty and artistry, so here we are!” he finished.
Star and Mitchell first met in 2018 and have remained close friends, with the pair scheduled to go on a makeup masterclass tour together in Europe before it was postponed after the breakup with Schwandt.
Jeffree and Nathan are said to still be friends though, despite the split, with the YouTuber himself revealing that his ex stills comes over to visit their dogs.
“Nate came over the other day and visited the dogs and it was so beautiful. There’s no custody battle, he can come over here whenever he wants… I think there’s a lot of things behind closed doors that people never know,” he said.
