Pokimane criticizes “impatient” Twitch viewers for being “disrespectful”
Popular Twitch streamer Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys took aim at her ‘impatient’ viewers who spam emotes to suggest something is boring – explaining that it’s “worrisome” that they have short attention spans.
Pokimane finally made her return to Twitch on October 30 after taking a few days off in order to put some time aside for herself.
The most popular female streamer on Twitch has close to 3.5 million followers on the live streaming platform but that doesn’t mean her fans fall head over heels for everything she does. Sometimes they’ll call for her to skip over something she finds interesting, which doesn’t exactly win favor with Poki.
500During her return stream, the popular broadcaster had been watching a few videos when some members of her chat took issue with them – spamming the ResidentSleeper emote to suggest it was boring.
After a few minutes of said spam, Pokimane hit back. “You guys put me in a rough situation, yeah you, like sometimes I just want to talk about random s**t and explore it with chat, and when you guys just start spamming ResidentSleeper, whether it’s me or someone else’s channel, no streamer will ever appreciate that,” the streamer stated.
Poki wasn’t finished there, though. She added: “At the end of the day, you know, it’s my fricking stream and I wish I could just inject some patience into you! Like, you literally cannot hear about something for five minutes in order to discuss it. More than it is annoying, it’s like worrisome, I worry about you guys – when was the last time you read a book?”
The streamer put that question back to her chat, with some suggesting that the video in question – which was five minutes long – equated to the length of a novel, leaving her stunned.
“Imagine thinking a five-minute video is a book!” she said. “Alls I’m saying is, for starters, it’s disrespectful and secondly, I want you guys to have a longer attention span than that of a goldfish.”
That jokingly gave Poki an idea for a new chat name, as she labeled them as “goldfishes,” even though chat answered back with fish-emote spam.
Whether or not Pokimane’s viewers will heed her calls and be a bit more attentive moving forward remains to be seen, but at least now she’s got her feelings out in the open.
Streamers do hold quite a bit of sway over controlling their chat so it wouldn’t be shocking to see the ResidentSleeper spam become a thing of the past when it’s all said and done.
