Popular YouTubers Tana Mongeau and Jake Paul stirred debate across the internet after getting engaged just two months into their fast-paced relationship – but fans weren’t convinced their charade was the real deal.

As it turns out, these skeptical fans were somewhat correct, with Mongeau spilling the beans about her Vegas wedding to Paul in a soul-bearing video just one week later.

During her “get ready with me” video, Mongeau addressed claims of faking her marriage for views, admitting that her union with Paul was not legally binding due to finding such legalities “unnecessary.”

Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau’s wedding was met with speculation across the net, with many fans wondering if their union wasn’t merely a charade for views.

“To everybody that’s calling it fake because we rushed into it or because I don’t do things traditionally, because I wanted to not do it legally,” she said of the matter. “Any wedding I have, if I have three more fucking weddings, I really wouldn’t want to do it on paper because I think that legally binding yourself to someone takes away the love.”

This wouldn’t be the first time Mongeau has opened up about her controversial wedding, either: the YouTuber hinted that her union with Paul was merely for views during an episode of her MTV show, “Tana Turns 21,” with fans outraged that the ceremony could have been a massive prank.

“Don’t get me wrong, I think a wedding is a very serious thing, but at the same time, I think Jake and I don’t take things very seriously,” Tana said. “It’s still something fun and lighthearted that we’re obviously doing for fun and for content.”

However, Mongeau later rescinded her statement in a Tweet shortly thereafter, claiming that her words had been used out of context.

“I filmed those confessionals for the show A LONG TIME AGO!” Tana wrote of the issue. “…the ‘for fun and content’ sound bite was from a very long sentence lmao. [I] was a little salty to see it pulled out of context.”

While their wedding may not be legal, Mongeau and Paul’s relationship appears to be very real – sans the paperwork necessary to render their marriage as the genuine article in the eyes of the law.
