Teacher under fire for giving student ‘birthday spankings’ in viral video

However, the newest teacher story to gain attention has created a big discussion about what is or isn’t appropriate for teachers to do with their students.

A video was spread around TikTok where a teacher was seen with a young elementary school student and soon shocked viewers as she started to give the student his “birthday spanking”.

In the video, the teacher is seen with a young student who is holding onto a table. The teacher then uses a big wooden ruler to give the student his “birthday spankings”.

However, it’s not as bad as it seems as both the student and the teacher had big smiles on their faces, and it’s obvious that the teacher didn’t put any force into the spanks as they looked more like taps.

In North America, the tradition of “birthday spankings” involves the birthday boy or girl receiving the same number of hits as their age plus “one to grow on” during their birthday celebration.

Despite the seemingly innocent interaction, people have taken to TikTok to discuss whether or not it was appropriate for the teacher to do the birthday spankings.
