Tommy Fury camp addresses claims Jake Paul fight is “dead in the water”
Instagram: Jake Paul/Tommy FuryTommy Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, has responded to claims that the Brit’s fight with Jake Paul is “dead in the water” following his issues with traveling to the United States.
When Jake Paul confirmed that he’d be returning to the boxing ring in August, there were plenty of rumors about who his opponent might be. Though, fans only wanted him linked with one name – Tommy Fury.
Despite Jake previously saying that he was leaving Tommy “in the dust” and looking at the different opponents, the longtime rivals agreed to fight each other on August 6th at Madison Square Garden.
However, the fight appears to be on the ropes as Tommy is unable to get into the United States. Jake has claimed he is “moving on” and finding another opponent, but Fury’s camp is hopeful it’ll go ahead as planned.
Tommy’s promoter, Frank Warren, was quizzed about the fight being “dead in the water” following his Queensberry Promotion’s July 2nd event in London.
“If he (Tommy) doesn’t get to the embassy in time and doesn’t get his ESTA, which is what it’s all about, then it will be (dead in the water)” Warren told reporters after the fight card.
“We hope that’s not going to be the case but understand from Jake’s position and his team, they can’t hang around and wait forever, they’ve got a date booked and they’re going to want somebody in there and in that opposite corner to sell tickets with. Let’s hope it’s going to be Tommy still.”

While Jake has claimed he’s looking for a different opponent, to this point, the fight with Tommy hasn’t been officially canceled and is still scheduled to go ahead.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer has been offered other opponents as replacements for Tommy, but fans are eager to see the two longtime rivals face off. Though, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
