Twitch Streamer Apologizes After Saying Blind People Are Worthless in Bizarre Rant

A Twitch streamer has apologized after receiving significant backlash for a clip in which he calls blind people ‘worthless’, in what he claims was a poorly executed joke.

Streamer ‘om3gapro’ was live on Twitch when he began explaining the difficulties blind people face in a very derogatory way, even comparing them to ‘invalids’ – people with severe mental disabilities.

His most ridiculing comment was saying “if you’re blind, you’re f***ing worthless, that’s just big facts, I’m sorry to say it”.

While om3gapro recognizes the harm and offensiveness of his comments, he has written an apology statement explaining the context which led to his rant, making clear that he does not actually think blind people are worthless.

“Ok, I am the streamer showed in this clip and I feel like I should explain myself. Before I do that, I know that nothing I could say could erase the offense a lot of you took for the words that I spoke in this clipping, and for that I truly am sorry.

Let me explain the context of this awful joke, not that it can change anything. We were debating on my stream as to what was worse, being blind or being deaf. To me, I thought the clear answer is that being blind was FAR worse than being deaf. In this clip here, you see me get fed up with people saying that being blind is better than being deaf, which then spawned this horrible clip.

I deserve every bit of backlash and criticism I am receiving over this, I did not realize how much power my words actually have. On my stream, I am often times very hyperbolic and OVER OVER exaggerating a lot of what I say, which is what I did in this clip. I do not ACTUALLY think that blind people are worthless, I was merely using the absolute extremes to try to prove my point in a stupid, actually worthless debate that I had on my stream.

Again, I deeply deeply apologize for my words.”

The clip, which has since garnered thousands of views after being shared to Reddit and social media, can be viewed below. It contains strong language.

It seems in an attempt to make his point that being blind is more detrimental than being deaf, om3gapro went somewhat overboard, leading to his very offensive comments.

It is unclear if Twitch will take any action following the clip, which has now been removed from his channel.
