Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has given an old character a new lick of paint, and fans have fallen in love with their appearance, as realized on modern hardware.

As Final Fantasy VII Rebirth begins with the party outside of Midgar, many characters who appeared in Disc 1 from the original game will be making their debut. These include Cait Sith and the residents of the Gold Saucer amusement park, which is a major location in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

One of the characters who will be appearing in the remake continuity for the first time is Dio, the owner of the Gold Saucer. He briefly appeared in one of the early trailers for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, dancing with the entertainers in the Gold Saucer.

In Final Fantasy VII, Dio is the one who provides Cloud’s group with the buggy they need to get around and gives them the Keystone they need to enter a certain dungeon. Dio is one of the few to have an amicable encounter with Sephiroth, which is a scene we hope appears in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth fans are in love with Dio’s new render

A user on the FFVIIRemake Reddit has shared a new render of Dio that Square Enix has released. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth fans flocked to the thread to show appreciation for Dio’s new appearance, making him look like a pro wrestler.

“SquEnix serving up exactly what we all wanted but didn’t have the courage to ask for,” one user wrote, while another said, “Alright, where do we get the life size cardboard cutout?”

“He’s still a hottie big strong bois,” one user said, “But he should definitely have been wearing a gold thong. I will not be budged about this opinion.”

“You thought it a render, but it was I, Dio!” one Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure fan remarked, being one of many people in the thread to make the comparison between Final Fantasy Dio and the time-stopping anime vampire Dio from Jojo.

Final Fantasy VII Remake greatly expanded the content in Midgar, and the Gold Saucer is the best location for a similar treatment in the sequel. Many fans will be happy if Dio gets a bigger role in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. If he joins the party, Sephiroth won’t stand a chance against those pecs.
