Internet shocked after finding they’ve been eating sliced cheese wrong forever
FlickrA TikToker took to the platform to share a shocking new discovery about the proper way to eat sliced cheese, and the internet couldn’t believe it.
A TikToker named Maddie caused a stir after she revealed a shocking discovery surrounding sliced cheese. This all began when she looked more closely at the sell-by-dates on the back of the packets.
She was taken aback when she saw that consumers should throw away their cheese just three to five days after opening. The text overlay on the video reads: “Did everyone else know this?
“Did you know that this cheese goes bad three to five days after you open it? Shredded cheese, sliced cheese, doesn’t matter the brand, it says… ‘Use within three to five days of opening.’”
She continued: “When my husband and I discovered this I think it was like a couple of weeks ago at this point, I think we just stood in the kitchen in silence and stared at each other… What do you mean three to five days?”
TikTokers disgusted by shocking sliced cheese discovery
After the video was posted on the platform, people couldn’t wait to weigh in and share their thoughts. Many were shocked to discover the short consumer date at the back of the packet.
“I did not need to know this bestie,” one said, followed by a crying emoji. “Some things are just best left unsaid,” another wrote, clearly unhappy about Maddie’s discovery.
“I definitely noticed that our shredded cheeses doesn’t last after opening. The smell changes completely. I didn’t know about the 3-5 rule, but it makes sense,” one stated.
Some, however, refused to be swayed by the discovery, writing that they’d continue to eat their cheese the same way they always had.
“Babe, I want to be honest. I bought some cotija cheese in the summer and I used it the other day. We’re all fine. No mold, it’s good.”
“I’ve been eating it til it’s moldy for 36 years and I’m still here. JUST DONT TELL MY HUSBAND,” another user claimed.
