Servers refuse to serve ‘rude’ couple who always come in 15 minutes before closing
TikTok: @sassyserver0529Titling her video ‘The non-tipping situation,’ a server has gone viral after sharing a recurring situation where a couple enter the restaurant 15 minutes before closing, and refuse to tip.
Filming the viral rant from her car, TikToker Sassy discussed the couple in question, describing the situation to viewers:
“They always came in about 15 minutes before we closed. They never tipped. It didn’t matter how much or how little they spent, how great the service was, or which server they got, they did not tip.”
This recurrence has led to most servers avoiding the rude couple, often declaring themselves as “not it” as soon as the couple walk into the restaurant.
“And before you guys come at me about, ‘Pay your employees a livable wage,’ you don’t know what you’re asking for,” she says. “I didn’t create the tipping culture, but I’m just here existing in it like everybody else,” she tells viewers.
TikTok weigh in on rude couple
TikTok couldn’t wait to chime in on Sassy’s situation, with several agreeing with the poster, arguing that what she asks is fair: “I’m very fair about tipping 15 to 20%. With that said tipping is not mandatory.”
“Have the manager tell them no one will wait on them because they don’t tip,” another suggested.
However, some didn’t share the same sentiments: “Are they rude? Otherwise it’s part of the job and you take the good with the bad,” another stated boldly.
“As a business owner I would fire any employee that refuses to wait on a client,” another concurred.
“You let your servers refuse to serve!? Wow. Nowhere I’ve ever worked,” another chimed in, clearly shocked.
Another customer went viral in January, after they raged at servers at the Sugar Factory for putting an automatic tip on their bill.
