Taco Bell customer shares shockingly cheap receipt from 2012
TikTok: yo_lovelyoceanA woman shared the total on her Taco Bell receipt from 2012, causing viewers to reminisce over cheaper prices.
Over a decade later, a woman found a receipt from Taco Bell where the prices were much cheaper than they are today.
Captioning her viral TikTok, “I’m so upset,” the Taco Bell customer shared just how inflated prices have become since 2012.
Viewers of the story have also chimed in, reminiscing over simpler days when food was more affordable.
Woman says she can’t “justify” going to Taco Bell anymore
TikToker LovelyOcean said she may never go back to Taco Bell ever again, as she can’t justify spending so much after seeing the total she paid for two beefy five-layer burritos in 2012.
The price back then was $2.59 for both burritos, whereas now, the price of just one beefy five-layer burrito comes to $3.59.
After reading the nostalgic total, LovelyOcean posed the question, “Can you even get anything from Taco Bell for $2.59?”
Shaking her head, she then asked, “Where did we go wrong?” Those who viewed her viral video were also shocked by not only the price difference but also the portion sizes, “Got Taco Bell last night and they had raised the prices again and the burritos were half the normal size and cold. Just sadness instead of comfort food.”
And, “Taco Bell was the only place I could go to with two teenage boys and actually get them enough to eat. Now I can’t even afford to take myself!”
One Taco Bell employee also commented in agreement about the surging prices, “As someone who works at Taco Bell, I think the prices are crazy. Someone got ten items for almost 60 dollars and they were the cheaper options.”
Though it’s clear that prices have inflated, Taco Bell’s sales actually increased 2-3% in 2023, proving that regardless of their increase, customers have still supported their favorite fast food chain.
