Walmart customers shocked after discovering what store does with leftover chicken

A woman took to TikTok to discuss how Walmart deals with leftover items, but it was their rotisserie chickens that really got people talking. 

Have you ever wondered what big retailers do with unsold stock? Well, TikToker Ivonne thought it was time to have a talk about Walmart’s leftover items. 

“I wanna ask you guys something: do you ever wonder what happens to the rotisserie chicken that they don’t sell here at Walmart?” Cruz asks. “Let me show you what they do with it, hold on.”

It then cuts to her making her way through the store: “Walk with me, walk with me, walk with me.”

“Right here,” she says, showing off the chicken. “They freeze it, so you guys could buy it after. That’s what they do. So if they don’t sell it they freeze it and sell it to you at six bucks?

“If you’re ever wondering what they do to that chicken, that’s what they do. They don’t toss it, they freeze it and resell it to the consumer,” she says.

She then discovers more frozen chicken, telling viewers: “Guys I found some more chicken but this one, these are marked down to $3…don’t buy the $5 ones cause you could find them marked down…” she says before the video cuts. 

People weigh in on Walmart freezing rotisserie chicken

After the video was posted on the platform, a couple of people were shocked to find that the chain recycled their chicken in this manner, asking: “What the hell?”

However, most people commended Walmart for preventing food waste, and making the most of leftover goods. 

“Are they supposed to throw away perfectly good chicken? I’m sure most of us put away or freeze leftover food.”

Other stores also seemed to follow the same procedures: “Sam’s does this. Whatever didn’t sell in the time frame was put in the cooler and the next day they were put back out for sell as legs and thighs.”

One commenter however, took issue with the frozen product’s price, writing: “Nothing wrong with frozen chicken but it should be half price.”

Walmart also went viral in February, when an employee handed a customer their vest and asked them to quit for her.
