Cloak reveals why he and Tfue missed out on Fortnite World Cup Duos

Former FaZe Clan Fortnite star Dennis ‘Cloak’ Lepore claims that stream snipers and griefers played a huge part in his inability to qualify for the Fortnite World Cup.

While many competitive Fortnite fans may have thought that Cloak and duo partner Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney would be shoe-ins to qualify for the World Cup, the duo failed to make the grade.

Despite dominant performances, the former FaZe Clan men fell short in the hopes of qualifying for the duos portion – with Tfue ultimately qualifying for the solo part of the event, while Cloak will have to watch from afar. Now, though, Lepore has lifted the lid on why he thinks they failed to qualify together.

Cloak and Tfue have been a Fortnite duo since the beginning

During his appearance on the Courage and Nadeshot show, Cloak explained: “Epic removed anonymous mode. Turner (Tfue) streams to 300,000 people – our qualifiers. We are first every single week by 10-15 points.”

He continued: “As soon as we get to the end, the people who know they aren’t going to qualify end up being in our games multiple times and stuff like that – We end up choking. A lot of times there is nothing we can blame but ourselves, but 7 of the 9 weeks in qualifiers we have been under five points from qualifying.”

Tfue will be headed to the finals in New York but Cloak won’t be.

Cloak also stated that the RNG (random number generator) aspect of Fortnite Battle Royale played a big role too, with some pros being able to nullify the impact that has on their matches better than others.

Yet, he circled back around to stream snipers and explained that Tfue performs better while streaming and he couldn’t really ask his partner to try not streaming – especially when he peaks at ridiculous viewer counts.

The former FaZe member continued to state that players who realized that they wouldn’t qualify because of time constraints and being behind on points, ultimately decided to turn their attention elsewhere.

While these would-be qualifiers may have been professionals or high-level players, Cloak claimed that: “they are going to do everything in their power to prevent other people from qualifying.”

The Fortnite World Cup kicks off on July 26 and runs through July 28 in New York City, with plenty of fans expected to be in attendance.

While he won’t be playing, it remains to be seen if Cloak will attend and cheer on his long-time duo partner.
