Fortnite Season 8, Week 5 challenges and how to complete them – Pirate Camps, Race Track and more

Matt Porter

Fortnite ushered in the fifth week of Season 8 with the v8.20 update, and fans now have a brand new set of weekly challenges to complete as they continue to rank up their Battle Pass.

The Fortnite v8.20 update went live on Wednesday, March 27, introducing the new Poison Dart Trap item alongside new Foraged Items which grant players health and shields when consumed.

Epic Games also rolled back the rewards players received when they got eliminations in the game, a decision which has proved to be incredibly unpopular with Fortnite streamers and pro players.

Foraged Items were added to the game in the v8.20 update.

Week 5 of Season 8 brings a brand new set of seven challenges, with three that are open to anyone who has the game, with another four exclusive to players who own the Season 8 Battle Pass.

Players who own the Battle Pass will also have the opportunity to unlock a brand new loading screen by completing all seven weekly challenges, which can be used to find the hidden Battle Star for the game’s Discovery challenges.

Fortnite fans will recieve the Week 5 loading screen when they complete all seven challenges.

The Fortnite Season 8 Week 5 challenges have officially been released by Epic Games, although we already had a rough idea as to what we can expect when they finally live, thanks to data miner @Lucas7yoshi.

A look at the Fortnite Season 8, Week 5 challenges.

How to complete Fortnite Season 8 Week 5 Challenges

Week 5 Discovery Challenge

Fortnite’s Discovery Challenges will run throughout Season 8, and Week 5 sees players hunting for a hidden Battle Star which has been placed somewhere on the map by Epic Games.

Players will need to head south of the Volcano to grab the star, and we’ve got a handy guide to help you find it if you’re struggling.

Deal 200 damage with Scoped Weapons to opponents [5 Battle Stars]

Fairly straightforward, players will need to get their hands on a weapon with sights, whether it’s a Scoped Pistol, Scoped AR or a Sniper Rifle, and deal 200 damage to enemy players.

This challenge doesn’t need to be completed in one match, so don’t worry if you’re struggling to find enemies or a scoped weapon.

Search seven chests at Paradise Palms or Shifty Shafts [5 Battle Stars]

Players will need to head to either Paradise Palms in the south-east corner of the map, or to the abandoned mine known as Shifty Shafts and start opening chests to complete this challenge. Players don’t need to land with at these locations to complete them, so you can head there any time to finish this challenge.

Fortnite players will need to head to Paradise Palms or Shifty Shafts.

Get 15 bounces in a single throw with the Bouncy Ball toy [5 Battle Stars]

Obviously, having the Bouncy Ball toy equipped as an emote is necessary to complete this challenge. Players will need to make the ball bounce 15 times in one throw, so it may be worth finding a large hill or mountain and throwing it down the side, as the steep face should help the ball keep momentum and get you the required bounces.

Stage 1: Gain 50 shield from Mushrooms [1 Battle Star]

It’s time to test your gathering skills, as players will need to be on the lookout for mushrooms and shield potions to complete this task. Players will first need to get 50 shield points from Mushrooms, then 100 from Small Shield Potions and 100 from their larger counterparts to get the Battle Stars.

Because this is a staged challenge, they need to be completed in a specific order, so you’ll have to be on the hunt for mushrooms first before you can move forward.

  • Stage 1: Gain 50 Shield from Mushrooms – 1 Battle Star
    • Stage 2: Gain 100 Shield from Small Shield Potions – 2 Battle Stars
    • Stage 3: Gain 100 Shield from Shield Potions – 2 Battle Stars

Use a Volcano Vent, a Zipline and a vehicle in the same match [10 Battle Stars]

There’s no order to completing this challenge, but it might be worth heading to the Volcano first, as this is where you will find a large number of Vents, while there are also a number of Ziplines around the area which means you can mark those two off the list quickly.

There is no specification as to what vehicle you have to use for the final part of the task, so players can use The Baller, Driftboards or Quadcrashers.

Players will be zooming across the map on Ziplines thanks to this challenge.

Eliminate three opponents at Pirate Camps [10 Battle Stars]

For the first time since Week 1, players are heading back to the Pirate Camps that are littered across the island. Players will need to take down three enemies at these locations, and if you’re struggling to find one, we have a handy guide that will show you where you need to go.

The Fortnite Season 8 Week 5 challenges are set to go live later today, and we’ll be sure to update this post with any new information as it is released by Epic Games.

Complete a lap of the Race Track in Happy Hamlet [10 Battle Stars]

Fortnite fans will need to head to Happy Hamlet and get their hands on a vehicle to complete this challenge. Once you find one, head north-west of the snowy town and you’ll come across the race track, which is marked out by yellow and white barriers.

Head to the start line, complete a lap, and the Battle Stars are yours.
