All-New Submachine Gun is Coming Soon to Fortnite Battle Royale

A new type of Submachine Gun is coming soon to Fortnite: Battle Royale, becoming the first new weapon added during the new Season 5.

The in-game Message of the Day announcement board in the pregame menu shows the new SMG with a light blue background and is noted to be coming soon.

Here is the new weapon as displayed in the announcement screen, with the following caption:

Submachine Gun – Coming Soon!
New SMG weapon with a fast rate of fire and improved mobility.

With this addition, there will now be three types of SMGs in Fortnite, the other two being the suppressed and tactical varieties. 

While this one appears to be a brand new weapon, it will remind longtime players of the older standard SMG, which was vaulted during Season 2.

The fact that the first provided image of this new SMG has a bright blue background indicates the likely possibility that one of its varieties will be Rare.

While there is no official release date announced for the new SMG, it will likely be released as part of the upcoming v5.0 Content Update, which will go live on July 17 at 8 AM ET with no downtime.
