If you’re on a PC, mobile, or console and aren’t sure which aim settings to use, we’ve got the best options for you right here.

How to change aim settings in Fortnite

Aim settings are located in Fortnite settings that you’ll be able to access by pressing the top right Avatar icon on the main screen. Once there, hit the gear button on the left pane to go into the Settings menu.

You can find the Aim settings in the Settings menu.

You’ll be presented with the Video settings first but using the top tabs, you can navigate between Touch and Motion (Mobile), Mouse and Keyboard (PC), and Controller settings pages.

From there, you can change the settings for your preferred device using our recommendations below.

Best PC Aim settings

If you’re playing on a PC, your aim primarily depends on your Mouse sensitivity settings that decide the speed you’re moving your crosshair, building structures, and using ADS to fire weapons.

While these settings are set to normal values by default to assist a first-time player, if you’d like to get better and make the most out of your Keyboard and Mouse, here are the best recommended Aim settings for PC you should choose.

  • X-Axis Sensitivity: 7.0%
  • Y-Axis Sensitivity: 7.0%
  • Targeting Sensitivity: 40.0%
  • Scope Sensitivity: 40.0%
  • Building Sensitivity: 100%
  • Editing Sensitivity: 100%
  • Ignore Controller Input: Off
  • Lock Input Method as Mouse: On

We recommend setting the X & Y axis sensitivity to 7% since you’ll want to maintain a steady pace while building structures and aiming your weapons but not too fast. The recommended values ensure accuracy and give you enough area to move your mouse around your desk.

The Targeting and Scope Sensitivity values are 40% since you’d want your crosshair to move quicker than usual so you can snap on enemy targets faster and keep the action going.

The Building and Editing Sensitivity is at 100% since accuracy while building structures and editing through them in a build fight is vital. You want to be quick, but not too fast that you make a mistake and let an enemy in your box during a 1v1 situation.

Lastly, lock your Input Method as Mouse and Ignore Controller Input so you get minimum latency with your device.

  • Use Custom Diagonals: On
  • Forward Diagonal Angle: 70
  • Strafe Angle: 90
  • Backward Diagonal Angle: 135
  • Sensitivity Multiplier for Aircraft: 100%
  • Invert Aircraft Mouse Controls: Off

While Keyboard settings aren’t as important when it comes to aiming, good movement is a vital component of your Fortnite gameplay. The custom diagonals ensure your diagonal movement is freeform rather than jerky movement across the map.

The Forward, Strafe and Backward angle values allow you to be quick enough on your turns and 360 movement on the island, but at the same time ensure you’re not just going anywhere.

Lastly, since Fortnite doesn’t have any flying vehicles at the moment, you can simply let the Mouse Flight settings on default values.

Best Console Aim settings

When it comes to playing Fortnite on a console, you’re presented with an entirely different input method, which is a controller. Console players are often frowned upon in the community by pros due to an added advantage of Aim Assist which allows them to be more precise with their shots.

However, apart from that there are also several factors that determine your gameplay while using a Controller. Here are the best recommended Aim settings for the Console or Controller that you should choose.

  • Controller Auto-Run: On
  • Build Immediately (Builder Pro): On
  • Edit Hold Time: 0.100 seconds
  • Slide Hold Time: 0.040 seconds
  • Reset Camera Axes: Both
  • Reset Camera Time: 0.100 Seconds
  • Vibration: Off

When using a controller, you need to make sure you’re pressing all the right buttons to move, build, aim, and edit in Fortnite. Enabling Controller Auto-Run allows you to focus on the important things without having to worry about aiming or doing other things in the game.

At the same time, turn on Builder Pro if you’d like your structures to build immediately without the frustrating snapping animation. Furthermore, if you’re in a build fight, you’d need to be quick at editing to make structures and crank 90s. A lesser Edit Hold Time like 0.100 seconds lets you do that much faster than others.

At the same time, lower Slide Hold times like 0.040 seconds let you fall into a slide quicker while sprinting. When you’re in combat, you’ll tend to move your camera a lot using different weapons and while building. The Reset Camera Axes option when enabled to both makes your view centered with a quicker time of 0.100 seconds.

Finally, turn the controller vibration off so your hands accurately hit buttons and move the joysticks as you want them to without any hindrance.

Furthermore, set your Quick Weapon settings to default, but ensure it is set to Custom Only so you can set the weapons/items in your inventory slot according to your preference to switch to them quicker during a match.

  • Look Sensitivity: Default disabled
  • Aim Sensitivity (ADS): Default disabled
  • Build Mode Sensitivity Multiplier: 2.2x
  • Edit Mode Sensitivity Multiplier: 2.3x
  • Use Advanced Options: On

Recommended Advanced Look Sensitivity settings

  • Look Horizontal Speed: 45%
  • Look Vertical Speed: 45%
  • Turning Horizontal Boost: 0%
  • Turning Vertical Boost: 0%
  • Turning Boost Ramp Time: 0.00 Seconds
  • Instant Boost When Building: Off

Recommended Advanced Aim Down Sights (ADS) Sensitivity settings

  • ADS Look Horizontal Speed: 10%
  • ADS Look Vertical Speed: 10%
  • ADS Turning Horizontal Boost: 0%
  • ADS Turning Vertical Boost: 0%
  • ADS Turning Boost Ramp Time: 0.00 Seconds

Recommended Advanced Sensitivity settings

  • Look Dampening Time: 0.00 Seconds
  • Look Input Curve: Linear
  • Aim Assist Strength: 100%
  • Copy Basic Settings: Do not change
  • Copy Legacy Settings: Do not change

Recommended Controller Dead Zone settings

  • Left Stick Dead Zone: 10%
  • Right Stick Dead Zone: 7%

If you want to make the best out of your controller, turn the Advanced Options to On which will disable the default values of Look and Aim sensitivity. However, change the Build Mode Sensitivity Multiplier to 2.2x and the Edit Mode to 2.3x to perform those actions quicker while playing the classic battle Royale.

In Look Sensitivity, assign Horizontal and Vertical Speed values to 45 since you want your analog sticks to perform in a uniform motion rather than moving at a different pace across the screen. Keep the Turning values to 0 since you don’t want to depend on how far you push your sticks on the controller.

Keep the Instant Boost when building off as well which ensures a steady pace throughout. Coming to ADS sensitivity, the look speed is recommended to be set at 10% horizontally and vertically to maintain the same uniformity in movement as we suggested earlier. Also, similar to look settings, keep all turning values to 0.

For Sensitivity, keep the Look Dampening Time to 0 since you don’t want any delay while switching your direction. That is further enhanced by enabling Linear Look Input Curve which ensures your raw stick input determines your character’s actions in the game. Lastly, push the Aim Assist Strength to 100%, after all, there’s no shame if you’d like to make your shots snap faster on your targets.

However, while playing on a console, controller drift is a significant contributor to players being unable to fully benefit from aim assist. Hence you can change the Dead Zone values according to your controller, for us keeping the Left Stick at 10% and the Right Stick at 7% worked perfectly.

Best Mobile Aim settings

Fortnite returned to iOS in the EU and is available globally on Android via the Epic Games app. You can play the Battle Royale title using touch controls on your handheld devices, which come with different settings.

Fortnite Mobile Aim Settings
There are several options to assist your Fortnite Aim on Mobile.

Here are the best Mobile Aim settings we recommend for your gameplay:

Select Fire Mode: Auto Fire

  • Touch Sensitivity: 19%
  • Touch Targeting Sensitivity: 37%
  • Touch Scope Sensitivity: 39%
  • Touch Building Sensitivity: 143%
  • Touch Edit Mode Sensitivity: 140%
  • Vertical Sensitivity Multiplier: 101%
  • Look Acceleration Strength: 100%
  • Aim Assist: Off

If you’re a Fortnite player on Mobile and want to match the level of PC and console players, then the game provides you with an Auto Fire feature with a stronger aim assist. When it comes to aiming, your Touch Sensitivity should be set to 19, Targeting at 37, and Scope at 39 to give you the best possible results as you drift your fingers across the screen.

However, when it comes to Building and Edit Mode, your values rise to 143 and 140 since you’d want to be quicker than others. At the same time keeping the Vertical Sensitivity Multiplier at 101 and Look Acceleration at 100 ensures a faster camera movement while you’re playing.

But turn the aim assist off since it’s already being taken care of by your Auto Fire mode. Furthermore, turn Gyro Aiming off and keep other values to default since you won’t be using them most of the time.

Although mobile may not be the most ideal platform for Fortnite, it does offer a variety of accessibility features to assist players in having a good time.
