Epic Games confirms issue with Fortnite’s Reaper Pickaxe audio, announce upcoming fix [UPDATE]

UPDATE – January 16, 2019

Epic Games has officially announced a fix for the Reaper Pickaxe audio introduced with the v7.20 update.

In addition to this fix, Epic also corrected the ghost peeking and trap selection issues.

The release of Fortnite’s v7.20 update has introduced new items for players to get their hands on, but it’s also come with its fair share of bugs.

When the update went live on January 15, many fans noticed that the audio for the popular Reaper Pickaxe was much different and not at all what it had been prior to the update.

While some thought that maybe this was simply just how the Pickaxe would sound from now on, Epic Games calmed everyone’s fears in a simple follow-up Tweet.

Hours after the change was spotted, Epic confirmed that it was indeed an error and announced they’d be working on a fix.

There was no timeframe given for when the fix would go live, but fans should no doubt be relieved to find out that the new sound is not here to stay and will soon be fixed.

While the Pickaxe is indeed one of the rarest PIckaxes in Fortnite, having been released back in October 2017 when the game was still in its infancy.

GIven that it’s so rare and so beloved, it was no surprise to see many players, including TSM’s Ali ‘Myth’ Kabbani, worried about the new sound.

Myth even posted his thoughts on the upcoming fix on his Twitter, asking Epic to not boost the sound too much with the upcoming fix.

As soon as we know about when the fix is releasing, we’ll be sure to update this post. Be sure to also follow us @Dexerto on Twitter for all the up-to-date info on everything Fortnite related.
