Fortnite Risky Reels in-game event leaked for Chapter 2

Reliable leakers have found some very interesting game files that hint towards a major event occurring in Risky Reels in Fortnite Chapter 2.

Risky Reels is one of the locations that returned to the map in Fortnite Chapter 2, as well as Pleasant Park, Salty Springs and Retail Row. This time around, though, it is not a named location, but instead is a small area located just west of Frenzy Farm.

It was a fan-favorite when first introduced to Fortnite during Season 4, with many players disappointed by its disappearance a few months later during Season 7.

Now, it’s returned once again, but fans have been given a reason to think it may not be around for long, thanks to a couple of leaks from leakers Lucas7Yoshi and Hypex.

Risky Reels has returned to Fortnite after its removal in Season 7.

In a series of posts from both leakers’ Twitter accounts, we can see a bunch of images and code that point towards an in-game event occurring in Risky Reels. These include side-by-side images of the development of Risky in the time the event is expected to occur as well as details on what the event may be.

Hypex tweeted out a short collection of three images, in which you can see a very basic construction of Risky Reels with gradually fewer cars and construction trucks appearing, and he also suggests in a follow-up tweet that the movie screen will be changing.

This is followed up by an interesting tweet from Lucas7Yoshi, explaining what he believes will occur on the screen at the time the event occurs – expected to end on January 1, 2020.

“Still working out WHAT will be played at Risky Reels, but I do know the following: 2 minutes between the time that it plays,” the leaker explains, “it STOPS on January 1, 2020 (I think I’m parsing the number correctly, it’s a weird way of storing dates). I cannot find the video it’ll play.”

Overall, it seems that Fortnite fans should expect to see some action heading into the new year.

Some of Yoshi’s followers believe it may simply be a countdown to the New Year, which would definitely make sense, and their in-game Marshmello concert from February 2019 shows how successful live events can be for them.

It’s not yet clear whether there is a link between this event and the Chapter 2, Season 1 extension that was announced, with the season expected to run until February 2020.
