Fortnite Season 8: is Wailing Woods going to be replaced by a Jungle?

Calum Patterson

Fortnite players are gearing up for the start of Season 8, with big changes to almost every aspect of the game – and fans have already began theorizing what could be on the horizon.

We already know that an earthquake is set to take place on the map – as indicated by the large cracks in the surface which have started to appear – but what damage will it inflict?

Some have predicted that Tilted Towers will meet its demise, at least partially, but a new fan theory suggests that it will be ‘Wailing Woods’ which suffers the worst.

This theory is actually based on the secret lab, added under Wailing Woods in Season 8, and this fan, u/SonOfGarry, reckons the earthquake might actually originate from this location.

Taking inspiration from Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, the same technology which was used to create rifts, will cause the earthquake.

My theory is that the former owners of Dusty and Anarchy run the lab, and are researching rifts and their space-time altering properties. Likely, they are hoping to reverse time back to stop the meteor crash, The motivation doesn’t really matter, I’m just trying to state that this lab is going after something bigger than just short range portals.

Now where do the earthquakes fit in? Well, have you seen the movie Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse? If you haven’t, spoiler warning! Throughout the movie, the villain Kingpin’s main plot device is a powerful particle collider capable of opening holes between dimensions. The device is so powerful, that it ends up causing seismic activity when activated, shaking the ground beneath the city. So, in theory, the lab at wailing has developed in secret a much larger rift generator, which is causing the earthquakes.

Fortnite fans have predicted a jungle coming to the map at some point.

So, what will the earthquake do? This fan reckons an entirely new biome will replace Wailing Woods, possibly impacting Lonely Lodge too.

What will happen exactly is hard to say, but likely it’ll be similar to the events of Season 5, with an entire new biome dropped into the area, replacing the woods and possibly other surrounding areas including Lonely and crates.

What do you think could end up in this area? My money’s on a jungle, but other theories such as a volcanic or aquatic landscape are possible too.

Fortnite Season 8 is expected to start on February 28, and fans will just have to wait and see if their theories come true.
