Fortnite fighting stream snipers with new Streamer Mode features ahead of World Cup
While Fortnite currently has a Streamer Mode, it leaves a lot to be desired. Luckily, Epic Games recently detailed some of the changes that are coming soon to the mode.
The Fortnite World Cup is fast approaching and it looks like Epic Games will be trying some new things with the Streamer Mode to make things as fair as possible for those that will be streaming their matches.
Fortnite implemented a Streamer Mode several seasons ago but many players still have to hide their screens to prevent players from sniping lobbies.
With the changes Epic Games plans on adding in a future update, it looks like it’s not going to matter all that much if stream snipers are able to get into the same lobby since new features will change the skin a streamer is wearing to prevent any intrusions from crafty snipers.
The feature was first suggested by a player on Reddit in a thread that was looking for ways to improve on the mode. It was then confirmed by an Epic Games employee that the feature is in development currently but it missed the v8.30 release window.
A small change like this would make a huge difference to streamers as they will have less to worry about from stream snipers since the snipers will no longer know who’s who.
With a competitive game, players will take any edge they can get and not having players purposely land near you in order to get a quick, cheap kill will go a long way to making Fortnite more balanced for all players.
The timing of this update is excellent for those looking to compete in the Fortnite World Cup as it will allow for streamers to play the game as they normally would and hopefully not get flooded by tons of players all contesting their drop.
While it hasn’t been confirmed when it will release, it would certainly be ideal for Epic Games to get this update pushed out by the start of the World Cup to make things as fair as possible for all players.

Fortnite leaker Lucas7yoshi revealed the name of this new feature is called Anonymous Mode.
He has this description to go with it, presumably from what will be said in the patch notes.
