Fortnite’s Mythic Goldfish is actually a deadly weapon

Fortnite Chapter 2 players might be casting their lines out with the hope of catching the ultra-rare Mythic Goldfish, but not all of them will know just what they’re getting themselves into.

The Chapter 2, Season 1 achievements require players to fish out the rarest species of fish to be found on the new map and while this one might look a lot like a trophy, it has a much more interesting function than just being part of a challenge.

As not many players have found the new Mythic Goldfish so far, there’s no doubt that it will come as a surprise when you’re struck by one out of nowhere. That’s right… It’s a throwable object!

It might take you a while to find a Mythic Goldfish in Fortnite, but grabbing one will give you a huge advantage in close quarters.

Nobody was made more aware of that fact than Reddit user BlakeBenbow, who posted their first encounter with the new item on October 20, with no idea that the fish was even in the game yet. After all, not everybody has seen it.

The player was dancing in Fortnite next to a structure that they had built, before being smashed over the head with the trophy, eliminating him from the match immediately.

With 59 health left, they were obviously vulnerable to attacks anyway, but with a huge amount of damage per hit on the new Mythic Goldfish, it made easy work of dispatching them back to the pre-game lobby.

Those who are on the receiving end of a Goldfish throw will have 90 damage dealt, which is more than enough to take out opponents. In fact, it’s actually higher than Season 10’s Air Strikes (70) – which have since been sent to the vault.
