New details announced about $500,000 Secret Skirmish Fortnite event – schedule, format, players, prizes, and more

Epic Games have announced new details about the upcoming $500,000 Secret Skirmish competitive event for Fortnite Battle Royale.

As its name would suggest, Epic had not been really forthcoming about the event after initially announcing it just after the start of the new year.

However, on January 25, they revealed a lot of details all at once, including the full schedule, list of competitors, competition formats, the prize pool breakdown, and more.

The competition is set to take place over a two day period from February 14-15 with four separate events to take place, with the main one being the $400,000 Solos event on the 14th.

$75,000 will be up for grabs in the Duos competition set for February 15, and an additional $25,000 in prize money will be spread across two more events for which the details continue to remain a secret. 

Despite this new announcement, a lot of the details of the Secret Skirmish still remain a secret.

The format used in the Secret Skirmish will be very similar to past Fortnite events. There will be a scoring system that will be determined by match placings and eliminations:

  • Victory Royale: 3 Points
    2nd-3rd Place: 2 Points
    4th-10th Place: 1 Point
  • 7+ Eliminations: 3 Points
    5-6 Eliminations: 2 Points
    3-4 Eliminations: 1 Point

Each of the two main competitions will feature six total matches, after which the top 20 ranked players will be awarded prizes. 

Top players from previous Fortnite events have been invited to this latest Skirmish, including PAX West winner Morguasse.

As for the participants, 100 players have been invited based on their achievements in previous officially sanctioned Fortnite competitions. 

This includes the top 20 players from the PAX West tournament, top 20 from the Twitchcon Fall Skirmish Grand Finals, top 35 from the Winter Royale, and top 25 from the most recent Explorer Cup.
