Release date and time announced for v6.0 update in Fortnite – what to expect

Albert Petrosyan

Epic Games have announced the release date and time for v6.0 update in Fortnite Battle Royale, which will mark the start of the highly anticipated Season 6.

The update is set to go live on September 27 at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 8 AM BST and will require downtime, which means that matchmaking will likely be disabled 20-25 minutes prior to launch.

The announcement for the v6.0 update was made via a post on the official Fortnite twitter page on September 26.

The tweet also makes sure to remind players that they will still be able to upgrade progressive Outfits from Season 5, such as the Drift and Ragnarok skins, after Season 6 launches, as long as they are unlocked in the Battle Pass before the current season ends.

However, players will not be able to complete any of the weekly challenges from Season 5 once the update goes live, which means they have until the downtime to complete any outstanding challenges

There are several things coming in the v6.0 update that have already been confirmed by Epic in the past days and weeks.

A major revamp to audio, especially concerning footsteps and Glider tracking, will be implemented right at the beginning of Season 6.

Furthermore, the ability to customize bindings for controllers is also being reportedly added via this update.

The v6.0 update will also likely contain a slew of various cosmetic items, all of which will likely be found in game files and leaked by data miners shortly after the update goes live.
