The Fortnite world record for console kills has been smashed again

A new world record has been set for most kills by a squad on a console game of Fortnite Battle Royale.

The Australian squad made up of Fortitude_Fqrbes, Nexjs, tactjc- and NadeXC were playing on PlayStation 4 when they managed to surpass the 59 kills record set by JuicyMutt, MannyinCali, TozSlays and xPolitics back in April.

NadeXC’s team were able to combine for a massive 61 kills, making them the first squad to finally break the 60 kill mark. Fortitude_Fqrbes finished on 25 kills, Nexjs on 18, tactjic- on 10 and NadeXC brought up the rear on eight.

The full video of the record-breaking gameplay was uploaded by NadeXC to his YouTube channel, giving fans of Fortnite a first-hand look at how they managed to accomplish the impressive feat.

Once they finally secured the Victory Royale, and with it the world record, the guys were in complete shock that they had actually set a new world record, breaking into yells of “Let’s go” and “Oh my God”.

The Fortnite World Record has been hotly contested over the past few weeks, with Epic Games making “most kills in a squad game” one of the opening challenges of the Fortnite Fall Skirmish.

In September, the PC world record was broken three times in the space of two days, with popular players like FaZe Tfue and NickEh30 all gunning to set the new total.

With the console world record now set at 61, it will be fascinating to see if any other squads can come close to the near-perfect game that NadeXC and his squad had to set the record. You can view our full list of the current Fortnite world records here.
