For over the last year artist ‘Elca Gaming‘ has been creating an Avatar game and documenting its development on YouTube. He built the project from the ground up using Dreams on the PlayStation 4.

In videos posted to his channel, fans get a glimpse of a gameplay featuring Aang flying around with his glider. Players can even create an air scooter, and zip around the level while the monk hovers above the wind.

Impressively the one-person developer even designed an “Avatar state” mechanic, which looks incredible. Gaming outlet IGN compiled some of the best scenes from his hundreds of hours of development uploads on his channel.

While the Nickelodeon franchise has had games in the past such as the 2014 Legend of Korra title by Platinum Games, fans have been waiting for close to a decade to get a proper take on Aang’s journey.

In a Q&A, the artist explained his reasoning behind making an Avatar-based game. “About a year ago, I re-watched the series after a long time not watching it. And it was so much better than I originally remembered. I recognized there currently is no big or actually good Avatar games on the market,” he said.

Last month to celebrate the show’s anniversary, the YouTuber uploaded a video showcasing new gameplay of Aang using his glider. The clip quickly went viral, and at the time of writing has over 521,000 views.

Those with Dreams that are interested in checking out the Avatar game can actually play it right now, and can find out how to do so here. While it’s not finished yet, the creator is actively updating it and is giving updates on his YouTube channel.

It may not be an official game, but it’s the closet fans are probably going to get to one – and it looks amazing. If nothing else, it shows the Sony-owned title has a ton of potential to make turn creative visions into a reality.
