Bloodborne fans losing hope as remaster nowhere to be seen at PlayStation State of Play

Bloodborne enthusiasts have been left disappointed again as Sony did not announce a remaster during the PlayStation State of Play.

Bloodborne is one of the most beloved first-party games in PlayStation’s back catalog. That shouldn’t be surprising either. It comes from action-adventure maestros FromSoftware, and many still rate the game as the developer’s best Soulslike.

Of course, in terms of success, Elden Ring had a much larger impact on the culture, but many adore the gothic stylings and aggressive playstyle Bloodborne promotes.

For the time being though, the game is only available through backwards compatibility for PS4. While it has enhanced performance on PS5, it is still locked to 30FPS and it is starting to show its age.

That’s why many have been hoping for a remake to update the title to PS5, or at least a patch to boost performance on the more capable hardware. Many had hoped that would come with last nights State of Play, but alas, fans of the game were met with familiar feelings of disappointment.

Will Bloodborne fans ever be able to play the game in 60 FPS?

Bloodborne’s horrific, gothic nature still sends a chill down the spine even to this day.

In a Reddit thread by user jessemartin100 on the Bloodborne Reddit that has garnered 1.2k upvotes, fans are expressing their disappointment.  One player responded by evoking gothic horror-flavored imagery, saying: “The problem with lining my brain with eyes is that all those eyes came with tear ducts.”

Another similarly lamented, saying: “One of the greatest games ever to grace the Sony platform and this is the treatment it receives.”

One player said: “I’m all out of Bloodbornium. Sony doesn’t give a sh*t about this IP”. Another pointed out that they do care about the licensing though, responding: “Until someone decides to make a fun racing game out of it. Then they care.” This is a reference to the recent development of Sony coming in to impede fan project Bloodborne Kart, forcing the project to rename.

Others also pointed out that Until Dawn is getting a remaster before Bloodborne, which was announced last night.

It seems for now, Bloodborne fans will be left wanting. However, with next year being the 10-year anniversary of the game – maybe, just maybe fans will get their wish.
