Does Skull and Bones have character customization?
UbisoftAfter a far longer wait than many were expecting, Skull and Bones is finally here. Billed by Ubisoft as a deeply immersive naval combat simulator set in the Golden Age of Piracy, players will be able to customize their ships extensively, but character customization is more restrictive.
There have been widely varied expectations of Skull and Bones in the nearly seven years since it was announced. Some expected a direct update of the beloved Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, though this was quickly put to bed by the developer.
One of the major differences is that the game does not feature land combat in any form. Players can disembark their ships, but this is mostly to barter and interact with some of the game’s NPCs. With the game finally out, here’s everything you need to know about the game’s character creation.
Can you customize your character in Skull and Bones?
After completing the game’s introduction, some customization options become available for the player character. Initially, there are several archetype characters that can be selected. This is a similar system to the one Ubisoft employed in The Division 2.
Once that’s done, it’s possible to change the hair, clothing and accessories of the character to make it feel a little more personal. That said, there will still be a lot of people in the game with very similar pirate designs to your own.
Beyond that, players looking to make zany and unusual characters in a fashion similar to Baldur’s Gate 3 will likely be disappointed. There is a lot of room for customization and changes to the ten ships currently available in the game, so that may make up for it.
