Helldivers 2 may solve the Xbox vs PlayStation console war

Helldivers 2 had an explosive launch, thrusting players into a never-ending battle for democracy. With PS5 and PC players struggling on the war front, many are thinking this could be the title that ends the battle between consoles for good.

Helldivers 2‘s arrival in early February 2024 marked an insane run for Arrowhead Game Studios. Across PS5 and PC, the title would go on to smash sales goals and climb the Steam charts, a feat not easy to achieve for a “low-profile” title.

The premise of a never-ending battle for freedom and democracy has worked wonders for Arrowhead despite a few expected server issues. There’s plenty to look forward to as the developers look to expand to beef up their content plans.

Funnily enough, there’s another never-ending battle in the industry, and Helldivers 2 players think the game could be the bridge to solving that conundrum.

Helldivers 2 players think game could end “console war”

Console wars are a battle as old as time, as players argue why one platform is better than the other. What started as a strict policy of keeping games on one platform has softened over time as publishers continue to experiment with putting titles on other platforms.

Helldivers 2 is a perfect example of that idea since it’s on PS5 and PC. It does feature crossplay, and despite two combined platforms fighting for freedom, it seems more help is needed since the game relentlessly fights back via “in-game dungeon masters.”

One Twitter/X user has been keeping the receipts on console wars, and the Helldivers cry for help. They think this title could solve console wars for good, granted Sony greenlights the jump to Xbox.

Comments flooded in with support of the strategy as players across Twitter/X pleaded for more reinforcements. Funnily enough, all bets and differences are aside when it comes to Helldivers 2.

Xbox CEO Phil Spencer has gone on record with strong remarks, as he thinks Helldivers being strictly on PS5 and PC doesn’t help the industry. With several Xbox games looking to make the switch, maybe Helldivers 2 will join the shuffling and see a significant bolster to the in-game war front.
