Helldivers 2 players demand major weapon buffs for one specific reason
Arrowhead Game StudiosTons of Helldivers 2 players are calling for Arrowhead Game Studios to introduce weapon buffs in a future patch after spotting how some weapons majorly struggle on higher difficulties.
It’s no secret that Helldivers 2 can get pretty tricky as you progress through the different difficulty tiers. Sure, the Stragtegems can certainly make defeating wave after wave of bugs or robots a little easier, but without skill, a great team, and a strong weapon, you’re bound to struggle.
In fact, many players are finding their weapons to be increasingly powerless as they choose more challenging battles, with many calling for major weapon buffs in a future update.

Sharing their frustration on Reddit, one user argued the case for not nerfing the Railgun, but instead getting the devs to “buff the other anti vehicle options” to further aid players in exploring the harder levels.
“Level 35 here, I’ve played my share of level 9 dives” explained the player, going on to say how “the railgun is frankly the only weapon in the game that makes playing at higher difficulty bearable, and barely so if I might add, the game spams you with so many heavies at higher difficulties in some cases it’s just impossible to keep up, to the point most teams just give up and rush primary objectives for a quick extraction.”
After explaining how the other weapons feel “unreliable or just flat out bad” compared to their counterparts in Helldivers 1 or the Railgun, they added: “Please, before nerfing the only reliable option we have against heavy spam, consider bringing the other weapons up to scratch, setup weapons should perform way better than they do now.”
It seems the poster wasn’t the only player who agreed with the statement, as thousands upvoted the post and hundreds shared their support.
“The main weapons need more balancing than anything” commented one user, explaining how one or two feel incredibly powerful while others just seem lackluster at later levels.
Interestingly, one user revealed why the devs may not actually buff or nerf anything: “I think once they introduce our vehicles (mechs, tanks, etc) it will be alright” explaining how those additions could balance the gameplay out nicely.
Within the thread, one dev commented, revealing that “we are seeing these threads regarding game balance. I make no promises or commitments but we are listening” so hopefully players will see some balance changes in a future update – or at the very least, the devs are listening to fans’ ideas.
