According to SteamCharts as of January 2, 2025, the average number of Battlefield 4 players is 1,537. This is just a slight drop from November’s average number of 1,549 players who logged in daily.

Battlefield 4 numbers regularly fluctuated for the majority of 2024 with the highest average reaching being November and the lowest being just 905 in June. We’ve highlighted the comparison in average monthly players throughout the year below:

During the build-up to Battlefield 2042 in October 2021, the game saw a huge boost in its all-time peak with 12,342 players enjoying the game simultaneously on Steam.

However, figures then dropped drastically with the average count dropping as low as 2,237 in November 2021, and it hasn’t regained the same level of traction since.

How does Battlefield 4 compare to competitors?

Battlefield 4’s numbers are relatively low compared to some of its core competitors in the space – which also include other Battlefield installments.

Battlefield 2042‘s playerbase has dropped massively with the once popular shooter now averaging around 17,000 concurrent players in December 2024, which is quite low compared to its all-time peak of 107,006 concurrent players.

Some are still enjoying Battlefield V instead, with it having an average concurrent count of 11,966 and a peak of over 39,304. Compared to both entries, Battlefield 4 is certainly lagging behind these days.
