Inventory management is crucial in a survival horror game like Sons of the Forest. To be able to survive the cannibal-infested world of the game you need to craft, build and survive.
That being said you need to know how to drop items to make room in your inventory and since dropping items in Sons of the Forest is not as straightforward as it may seem, we’ve got you covered.
How to drop inventory items in Sons of the Forest
To drop items in Sons of the Forest, players can use the designated button on their input device. On a keyboard, the drop button is assigned to the G key, while on an Xbox controller, it is mapped to the B button, and on a PlayStation controller, it is the Circle button.
Pressing the designated drop button will only result in the item being dropped if there is no available space for it in your inventory. Otherwise, the item will simply be unequipped and placed back into your inventory.
The reason behind this unequip mechanic lies in the game’s inventory management system. Sons of the Forest employs a unique inventory system where players can carry multiple items simultaneously, limited only by the stack size of each item type. Consequently, there is rarely a downside to unequipping items, as they can easily be stored back into the inventory for future use.
