Nightingale gives players the freedom and flexibility to explore the game’s stunning setting, but realm hopping isn’t without its dangers. Combat, fall damage, and even disease, are all perils players will have to face.
Luckily, there’s two ways players can deal with losing health in Nightingale. A passive option, available right from the game’s start, and healing salves, which players will unlock fairly early in play.

Passive healing in Nightingale
When the Hunger and Rest bars are both full, players gain the Relaxed buff. This buff helps slowly recover health over time. This means even in the early game, players can recover from any unfortunate injuries.
To activate the Relaxed buff, simply make sure Food and Hunger bars are at max.
To max out their bars, players can eat food, such as Meat cooked at a Campfire to fill the hunger bar, then use the Bedroll item to rest.
It only takes a few seconds of rest to restore a decent chunk of their health. And with the Relaxed buff active, players are free to jump straight back into exploring with some peace of mind about survivability.
How to use Healing Salves to heal in Nightingale
Once players have reached the Swamp Biome, they’ll unlock the ability to craft a Healing Salve.
Healing Salves are great in a pinch when exploring the open world. Healing Salves can be used from the injury and provide the Healing Status effect. This buff works over a short period of time to replenish health. Players will be able to see the Healing Status effect is active in the bottom left corner of the screen.
