How to use Resolute Counterflow skill in Black Myth: Wukong
Game ScienceOne particular Black Myth: Wukong skill has a description that players may find confusing, which is Resolute Counterflow.
This action RPG based on Chinese mythology will have the player tackling dozens of enemies and bosses while simultaneously unlocking new skills from the skill tree.
Upon leveling up, you may eventually come across Resolute Counterflow, one of the skills under Staff Stances. Its description is a bit wordy and convoluted, leading many players to question what it means in places like the game’s Steam discussion forum.
If you’re one of many wondering how the Resolute Counterflow skill works in Black Myth: Wukong, here’s everything you need to know.
How Resolute Counterflow works
Resolute Counterflow allows players to perform a Heavy Attack during a Light Attack combo by consuming one Focus Point. This grants you the Resolute Strike ability.
The Resolute Strike part is what may be most confusing for fans, but it’s quite simple once broken down. Resolute Strike allows you to see through an incoming attack and nullify the enemy’s damage.
Essentially, you must use Resolute Counterflow before an enemy is about to strike. Another thing to note is that enemies that are “seen” are easier to stagger, so this skill debuffs the enemy in two different ways.
To perform a Resolute Strike, start hitting the enemy with a Light Attack combo (hit a few Light Attacks in a row) and make sure you have one Focus Point.
You’ll see Focus collect at the bottom right corner of your screen with each strike you make, and once the bar is full, the circle will fill with a Focus Point. From there, you can perform a Heavy Attack sometime during your Light Attack combo to initiate Resolute Strike.
You’ll know you’ve hit the enemy with a Resolute Strike when you see a bright spark emit from your staff, which is a good indicator of when you’ve performed it successfully.
The final Heavy Attack you do to trigger Resolute Strike also acts as a great cancel maneuver to stop your Light Attack combo. If you see the enemy about to strike but you’re stuck in a combo, hit them with that Heavy Attack and you’ll quickly get out of it.
