Pokemon Go players want “boring” feature reworked

Pokemon Go players want a QoL feature added to the game to remove one of the most boring and frustrating aspects of gameplay, even though Niantic is unlikely to take it out.

Pokemon Go has a vocal fanbase that’s always calling for change, whether in response to the Remote Raid Pass controversy or demand for QoL changes, like the ability to skip animations.

One aspect of Pokemon Go that commonly comes under fire is Egg hatching. In Pokemon Go, you require Incubators to hatch an Egg, and each has a set distance limit you need to walk before the process is complete. There are limits to how many Eggs you can carry before needing to hatch some to make room.

As Pokemon Go is always adding events, like the upcoming Sinnoh Tour, which sometimes switches up the Pokemon that hatch from Eggs, while also boosting the Shiny spawn rate. This comes with problems, however, leading to fans asking for changes.

Pokemon Go players want to delete Eggs

A user on TheSilphRoad Reddit created a thread asking for Niantic to allow players to delete Eggs. This would give players the chance to clear their selection in anticipation of a big event, or just remove Eggs with a pool of boring Pokemon.

“I am quite sure they will never do that. Maybe, just maybe, they could consider an option where you would temporarily opt out receiving new eggs,” one player suggested, while another said, “Eggs are their gacha and 2nd most valuable game mechanic incomewise.”

There’s a monetary reason for Niantic wanting to keep this mechanic, as pointed out by different users. “I would love to be able to delete eggs but I suspect Niantic will never give us that option,” one fan wrote, “They care more about their income through selling incubators than our convenience.”

While it’s possible to earn Incubators through different tasks, it’s easier just to buy them from the in-game store. The fact that players cannot delete Eggs means that you have to slowly work your way through them to clear space, especially as the type of Eggs you receive are random.

The monetization aspect of Pokemon Go’s Eggs means that the current mechanic isn’t likely to change. This means players will have to do a lot of messing around before events, or be willing to shell out cash to hasten the clearing of their current Egg storage.
