Best Yaoyao Genshin Impact build: Artifacts, weapons, more
HoYoverseDespite being small in size, Yaoyao can become a big help to anyone’s Genshin Impact team if built correctly. Here are our suggested Artifacts, weapons, and more to do so.
Yaoyao is a playable 4-star Dendro character who used to live near Liyue’s Qingce Village. Now, she has transitioned from the peaceful mountains to the busy city of Liyue Harbor to live alongside her master, Streetward Rambler.
Yaoyao can be a great addition to your roster to provide off-field Dendro damage in addition to healing. However, she has a high energy cost for her Elemental Burst, which ends early after swapping her out.
If you’re looking to add Yaoyao to your team, keep reading to learn her recommended Artifacts, weapons, and more.

Yaoyao abilities in Genshin Impact
Normal Attack: Toss ‘N’ Turn Spear
- Normal Attack: Performs up to four consecutive spear strikes
- Charged Attack: Consumes stamina to lunge forward, dealing damage with the spear along the way
- Plunging Attack: Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground, damaging enemies and dealing AoE damage
Elemental Skill: Raphanus Sky Cluster
Yaoyao calls upon her adepti protection device, nicknamed Yuegei, to help her fight against enemies.
Hold: Enters aiming mode to adjust the direction of Yaoyao’s throw
Yuegui’s Throwing Mode: Throws out White Jade Radishes that explode upon hitting characters or opponents, both dealing Dendro damage to enemies and healing party members within the same AoE based on Yaoyao’s max health. Any unused radishes remain on the field until they are used by an enemy or party member, or they explode on their own after a short period of time.
- If all nearby characters have more than 70% HP remaining, Yuegei throws a radish at a nearby opponent.
- If nearby characters have 70% or less HP remaining, Yuegei throws a radish at the character with the lowest health remaining. If no opponents exist nearby, Yuegui throws White Jade Radishes at characters even if they all have more than 70% HP remaining.
- A maximum of two instances of Yuegui: Throwing Mode can exist at any one time.
Elemental Burst: Moonjade Descent
At the enjoinment of a certain adeptus, Yuegui’s full potential can be unleashed in an emergency, dealing Dendro DMG to nearby opponents and entering an (in some sense) unsurpassed Adeptal Legacy state.
Adeptal Legacy
- White Jade Radishes generated will be changed to heal and deal DMG according to this skill. Explosions will heal all nearby party members, and the Dendro DMG that they deal will be viewed as Elemental Burst DMG instead.
- Summons “Yuegui: Jumping Mode” at intervals until their limit has been reached. The behavior of this version of Yuegui is the same as that of “Yuegui: Throwing Mode” in the Elemental Skill, Raphanus Sky Cluster. A maximum of 3 Yuegui: Jumping Mode can exist at any one time.
- Yaoyao’s Movement SPD is increased by 15%.·Yaoyao’s Dendro RES will be increased.
The Adeptal Legacy state will end once Yaoyao is off-field, and all remaining Yuegui: Jumping Mode will be cleared once this state ends.
Yaoyao Constellations in Genshin Impact
By pulling multiple copies of Yaoyao, you can expect to obtain these buffs from her Constellations:
- Level One – Adeptus’ Tutelage: When White Jade Radishes explode, active characters within their AoE will gain 15% Dendro DMG Bonus for 8s and have 15 Stamina restored to them. This form of Stamina Restoration can only be triggered every 5s.
- Level Two – Innocent: While affected by the Adeptal Legacy state caused by Moonjade Descent, if White Jade Radish explosions damage opponents, 3 Energy will be restored to Yaoyao. This form of Energy regeneration can occur once every 0.8s.
- Level Three – Loyal and Kind: Increases the Level of Raphanus Sky Cluster by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15. - Level Four – Winsome: After using Raphanus Sky Cluster or Moonjade Descent, Yaoyao’s Elemental Mastery will be increased based on 0.3% of her Max HP for 8s. The maximum Elemental Mastery she can gain this way is 120.
- Level Five – Compassionate: Increases the Level of Moonjade Descent by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15. - Level Six – Beneficent: For every 2 White Jade Radishes Yuegui: Throwing Mode throws out, it will also throw a Mega Radish that will have a larger AoE than the standard White Jade Radish and have the following effects upon exploding:
- Deals AoE Dendro DMG based on 75% of Yaoyao’s ATK.
- Restores HP for the active character based on 7.5% of Yaoyao’s Max HP.
- Every Yuegei: Throwing Mode can throw out a maximum of 2 Mega Radishes.
Best Yaoyao Artifacts in Genshin Impact
The best Artifacts for Yaoyao is the 4-piece Deepwood Memories set to increase her Dendro DMG Bonus and decrease an enemy’s Dendro RES. We recommend using this set alongside other Dendro characters because the Dendro RES effect can be triggered even when Yaoyao is not on the field.
Alternatively, you can use the 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith set if you want to grant her teammates an ATK bonus and increase their Shield Strength.
Artifact | Set bonuses |
Deepwood Memories |
2-piece: Dendro DMG Bonus +15% 4-piece: After Elemental Skills or Bursts hit opponents, the targets’ Dendro RES will be decreased by 30% for 8s. This effect can be triggered even if the equipping character is not on the field. |
Tenacity of the Millelith |
2-piece: HP +20% 4-piece: When an Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the ATK of all nearby party members is increased by 20% and their Shield Strength is increased by 30% for 3s. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s. This effect can still be triggered even when the character who is using this artifact set is not on the field. |
Best Yaoyao weapons in Genshin Impact
You won’t need to pull a 5-star weapon to transform Yaoyao into a powerful unit. In fact, her best in-slot weapon is the 4-star Polearm Favonius Lance. This option will give Yaoyao a chance to regenerate six Energy for her teammates every 12 seconds.
Likewise, Rightful Reward will restore 8 Energy after the wielder is healed. This effect can happen every 10 seconds and can even be triggered when the character is not currently on the field. Lastly, you could use the 3-star Polearm Black Tassel to increase DMG against slimes by 40%.
Weapon | Details |
Favonius Lance |
CRIT Hits have a 60% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 Energy for the character. Can only occur once every 12s. |
Rightful Reward |
When the wielder is healed, restore 8 Energy. This effect can be triggered once every 10s, and can occur even when the character is not on the field. |

Best Yaoyao team comp
We recommend either placing Yaoyao on a team focused on the Quicken or Aggravate Elemental Reaction. For a Spread party, we suggest using Yaoyao alongside other Dendro characters like Tignari, Alhaitham, or Nahida to increase their DMG. Lastly, you should use two Electro characters, such as Yae Miko and Fischl, to create Elemental Reactions.
Similarly, Yaoyao would also perform well on an Aggravate team alongside Cyno, Nahida, and Kazuha. Alternatively, you could replace Cyno with Yae Miko or Keqing to ensure powerful Electro DMG and healing from Yaoyao.
