GTA 6 fans are expressing some concern that Mafia 4’s 2025 release might mean GTA VI will be moved to the following year.

Mafia: The Old Country was revealed at Gamescom and is set to be released during Take-Two’s fiscal year 2026.

Take-Two is also Rockstar Games’ parent company and has maintained that GTA 6 is scheduled for Fall 2025. However, with the two open-world games possibly releasing close together, fans think there’s a chance GTA gets delayed.

Following Mafia 4’s announcement, fans began to debate on Reddit about whether or not this could be bad news for their planned vacation to Vice City.

“I don’t really want to stir up worry but it has me worried because if we get a date for Mafia 4 before GTA VI I’m pretty sure that’ll hint when GTA VI will drop and if that date is in fall 2025… I don’t even want to say this… but GTA VI may be getting delayed into 2026,” one player said.

Others in the comments agreed, remarking how they’re hopeful the two games aren’t impacted by each other.

“I hope it doesn’t interrupt the GTA 6 release date. Excited to play both of ’em,” someone else chimed in.

“GTA 6 is almost definitely getting delayed. The game NEEDS to be perfect. The internet will absolutely rip it to shreds if it isn’t,” a more pessimistic user commented. “The issue is, the longer they delay it, the more pressure gets placed on Rockstar. Its a stressful time for all involved, that’s for sure!”

GTA 6 is planned for Fall 2025.

Many players, however, were blown away by the fact both games are currently slated for 2025 and believe that either way, Take-Two would be making an incredible amount of money.

Fans are still eagerly awaiting a second GTA 6 trailer and official gameplay reveal, but leaks have indicated that one could be arriving before the end of the year.

Still, with how long fans have been patiently waiting for a new Grand Theft Auto, it’s easy to understand how heartbroken they’d be if a delay is announced.
