Rockstar Games might well have teased GTA 6 in an official announcement, after a statement celebrating a record-breaking holiday season in Grand Theft Auto 5 left some players very curious.

The game developers released an announcement on January 28, which revealed a whole host of rewards have been made available to both GTA Online and Red Dead Online players. GTA players, for example, can claim up to $2 million in-game absolutely free of charge.

Whether it’s teases being dropped by voice actors or multiple vacancies opening up at Rockstar Games regarding work on next-gen titles, GTA 6 clues have been stacking up, but some believe the biggest teaser yet has been officially revealed.

Rockstar rewarded players after GTA Online recorded more players playing the game in December 2019 than ever before.

While there was a lot to unpack from the news, including confirmation that Formula 1 cars are the next type of vehicles heading to GTA, there was one particular line of the statement that’s been identified as a possible hint towards a new game.

Rockstar’s statement says: “There is still much more to come in 2020. Next up for GTA Online is the addition of an open wheel racing series featuring all new vehicle types – with tense, high speed, track-based racing where tight cornering, tactical tire choices and perfectly timed pit stops make every second count. Plus, expect more big updates and a few surprises as we move forward into the year.”

There is a whole section dedicated to what’s “coming soon” in the popular franchises, which is exactly what fans like to see, with so many hoping that the game’s next installment will be announced in the near future.

Now, if there’s one thing that GTA players want more than anything right now it’s “surprises,” and now many believe the reveal of their next project will be confirmed in the not too distant future.

One Reddit user said: “They are not talking about online updates. They separated the two things in the sentence. AKA, something new besides online.”

It must be said, though, that this could be quite the reach, and not everybody is convinced that this announcement is the first teaser. Another posted: “They were talking about GTA Online. don’t read too much into it.”

Those surprises could literally be new content for Grand Theft Auto 5, which Rockstar have been keeping on top of with regular weekly updates adding new features, or possibly even just more in-game events.

With a lack of specific details, we’ll have to wait and see what Rockstar have in store for us in 2020.
