How to get Shedinja in Pokemon Go & can it be Shiny?

Shedinja is missing from the Pokedex of many Pokemon players, especially in the mobile games, so here’s everything you need to know about catching one in Pokemon Go.

In the mainline games, you must catch a Nincada and evolve it into Ninjask while owning a spare Poke Ball and leaving an empty space in your party. This will create Shedinja, which is a Pokemon based on insects that leave their husk behind as they grow.

While Nincanda and Ninjask are in Pokemon Go, the evolution method for acquiring Shedinja isn’t present.

As such, you need to acquire one through different means.

How to find Shedinja in Pokemon Go

Shedinja can currently only be acquired through trade. This is because Shedinja has only been available as part of limited-time events in the past and doesn’t show up in Raids or overworld encounters.

Nincanda does not evolve into Shedinja in Pokemon Go, so you can only meet it as a separate entity, similar to Castform’s different weather variants.

Trainers can obtain a Shedinja by completing one of the Collection Challenges during the Bug Out event. This event runs from April 12, 2024, to April 17, 2024.

Can Shedinja be Shiny in Pokemon Go?

Yes, Shedinja can be Shiny in Pokemon Go. As it often appears during special events, there is a chance it will be featured with a boosted Shiny rate, though that depends on the nature of the event it’s appearing in.

And that’s how you get Shedinja in Pokemon Go! Check out our other Pokemon Go guides for info on how to complete the greatest challenges in the game.
