The Helldivers 2 community is feeling some frustration to how Liberation progresses in the game, and wants there to be some changes.

Helldivers 2 is all about spreading democracy as players work together to liberate various planets from all kinds of threats.

As the community completes missions on each planet, the Liberation of that planet increases, leading to various rewards and missions completing.

However, many Helldivers 2 players are frustrated with this system and has some changes they would like to see made.

The issues and potential solutions are being discussed on the Helldivers 2 subreddit, where a player suggested a Liberation progression change – making the higher difficulty missions count more towards the counter.

“It would give some more incentive to try some of those more difficult missions other than experience plus I think it makes more sense, the more difficult the more damage you’ve done to the enemy,” they explain.

As the poster argues, this wouldn’t take away from new players. Instead, it would give them a reason to get better at the game and take on these higher difficulty levels.

Largely, the community agrees that something needs to change with how Helldivers 2’s progression works and have ideas of their own.

“I think we should get liberation per mission with a bonus of completing a set. Feels very frustrating joining randoms only to have the group disband after a run and get no progress for it,” said one.

Many Helldivers 2 fans are pointing to the fact that taking on the easier, quicker missions is a much more efficient way to liberate a planet, leaving the harder ones kind of useless.

Some can understand the decision to keep everything equal to try and reduce any toxicity, as well as helping newer players feel like they’re contributing. In defense of Helldivers 2, one user mentions that the more difficult missions do offer higher rewards through XP and getting more War Medals.

It remains to be seen if any of these changes would be viable or if it’s just fans theorizing together. It will fall on Helldivers 2’s devs to determine if anything needs to change.
