Helldivers 2 players don’t understand what is happening with Sample Counters
Arrowhead Game StudiosThe Helldivers 2 community is facing some massive confusion when trying to figure out how the Sample Counter works.
Collecting Samples is an integral part of the Helldivers 2 experience, as they are what players use to unlock and upgrade their arsenal.
These Samples can be found throughout missions by completing side activities, and players have been looking for a better way to track what they have found.
It turns out that this is possible, but the game’s Sample Counter appears to be broken in a few ways, leaving many Helldivers 2 players confused.
Helldivers 2 fans want clarity on Sample Counters
Over on the Helldivers 2 subreddit, a conversation has been brought up after a player brought up their concerns that the “Sample Counter doesn’t mean anything.”
Their issue is shown in a screenshot showing their Samples to be greater than the amount said was available on the map.
The community is quick to point out that this counter is meant to show how many Samples can be found naturally on the map. It doesn’t show any Samples that can be found in containers or bunkers, which is how players can get more.
This news is throwing some Helldivers 2 fans for a loop: “Wow never knew that. Just assumed they were included in the count. This changes everything…”
However, a bigger issue is appearing as more players are confused as to how this person was able to have a Sample Counter at all.
“My sample counter has never appeared, I’ve adjusted the setting to every value and even tried reinstalling my game, Still nothing, I’m maxed out on upgrades now so it doesn’t really matter but I find it odd.”
It turns out there is a bug with this counter and it requires a weird workaround to be done in the settings to get the counter to appear. However, some users are reporting that this workaround won’t work for them.
A big problem is that this bug is causing players to not even know this counter exists in the game:
“SO THAT’S WHAT– I must have managed to turn this off somewhere in settings, I haven’t ever seen this but I’m told it appears when looking at the map. Anyone have any idea how to turn it back on?”
Without a clear solution, however, it looks like Helldivers 2 players are going to have to keep figuring it out as they go.
