Helldivers 2 players rallying to liberate key planet in record time

Helldivers 2 players are banding together like never before. After failing the last Major Order, everyone now has their sights set on Veld, a key planet to help regain some momentum in the fight for democracy.

The Helldivers 2 community just suffered a major blow. For the first time since the game’s launch, we failed a Major Order. Automatons simply proved too powerful and overwhelmed our forces at every turn.

As a result, Super Earth is reeling. But the next generation of Helldivers is ready to strike back, this time turning their efforts to the other frontlines, tackling the galaxy’s Terminid infestation. A new Major Order is in effect, and players are rallying to complete this one in record time.

Following the shortcomings of the Automaton blitz, no one is looking to see the same mistake happen twice. Now, the planet Veld is in focus as a majority of the player base seeks vengeance.

Helldivers 2 Major Order
A new Major Order is now live in Helldivers 2.

Where previous Major Orders have asked a great deal, tasking us with liberating entire sectors of the galaxy, this week’s mission statement is far simpler. There’s been an outbreak of Terminids on Veld and it’s our job to contain the spread.

That’s all there is to it. Simply liberate this single planet and be rewarded 45 medals for your hard work. It’s a seemingly lighter objective after the failed week, something we now know a single “Game Master” named Joel has direct control over.

Looking to make amends and get the real spread (of democracy) back on track, players have been dropping into Veld en masse. The planet has never seen a herculean defense quite like this, with hundreds of thousands all focusing their efforts on the one location.

In fact, at the time of writing, roughly 300,000 of the game’s concurrent 420,000 players, are all seeking to liberate Veld. The next closest planet houses a mere 18,000 Helldivers in comparison.

Veld houses some of the most vile Terminids. Wipe them out and a surplus of Medals will be yours.

It’s clear the Helldivers 2 community isn’t taking the recent Major Order setback lying down. Thousands are now rallying together to blitz through the new objective, liberate Veld, and restore the good name of Super Earth in the process.
