Helldivers 2 players want the devs to buff the Flamethrower after many believe that it is one of the worst special weapons in the game.

Helldivers 2 features plenty of deadly weapons that players can use to liberate the galaxy from the Terminid and Automaton threats. From the close-quarters blasts of the SG-225 Breaker to the lightning-fast P-19 Redeemer, there’s certainly a lot of choice when it comes to kitting out your trooper.

However, just like every shooter, some weapons are best left in the gun cabinet. In this case, it’s the game’s Flamethrower, which many Helldivers 2 players believe needs a helping hand from the devs.

Helldivers 2 players call for Flamethrower buffs

“Why is it that in this beautiful game that has so many shameless, fantasy-feeding, badass, over-the-top weaponry, but the flame thrower is kind of ass,” commented one Helldivers 2 player

“Yes it still looks very cool but why can’t it be cool and be effective like almost everything else in the game? Enemies need to at least flinch or slow down or have any kind of minor crowd control when hit with the flames.”

Commenters were keen to highlight that the Flamethrower’s range is fairly limited, while the damage is also lackluster when compared to other special weapons. “There is no reason a Terminid scavenger, the weakest enemy in the game should be able to walk through your flames and hit you,” continued the player.

“They should buff its damage,” agreed another Helldiver. “Add slowdown similar to EMPs and then add a napalm flamethrower that needs to be used with a backpack (similarly to recoilless) that has 3x the range and AoE, longer burning status effect.”

Many commenters were also keen to highlight that in its current state, the Flamethrower is currently better at killing teammates than enemy units. While its still early days, it’s clear the Helldivers 2 community wants the devs to buff this flame-spitting weapon.
