The Helldivers 2 devs made some big changes to orbital precision strikes, and the community praised their decision to focus on listening to their player base.

Helldivers 2 released in February 2024, the sequel launching to a solid player count, with many jumping straight into the game and working alongside their friends to battle it out against the various challenges the game offers.

However, the community has been worried about the game following a major plummet in engagement and player count in recent weeks. A lack of updates and news has concerned those eager to see Helldivers 2 continue to grow.

In a new Reddit thread that has over 9,000 upvotes, Helldivers fans had nothing but praise for the devs after a recent change they made to Orbital Precision Strikes aligned with players’ desires, instead of simply tweaking the game to suit their initial use.

“The orbital precision strikes original intent was to be used against spawners and fixed positions. However, this hasn’t stopped the community from using it against pretty much everything,” began the Helldivers 2 dev team.

They added, “Therefore we want to make it a little easier to use against moving targets by lowering the call in time. We also lowered the cooldown to make it more available and to make it more competitive in comparison to Eagle stratagems.”

Following these changes, the Helldivers 2 community has praised the team for listening to their community, many taking this as a positive sign that the “game is in good hands now.”

One Redditor commented, “Woke up this morning fully expecting the usual constant b***h and moan posts this sub has become known for but I actually have yet to see a single meaningful complaint so far, proud both of Arrowhead and the community on this one.”

Another added, “This sub is a whirlwind of positivity yet again. Proving definitively that the reaction to the criticism was in fact just toxic positivity.”

Time will tell if these changes bring players back to the game, however, based on the reactions so far, the Helldivers 2 community is still very much alive and kicking.
